The Best Photojournalism From Around The Globe Comes To Auckland This July!

The prestigious World Press Photo Exhibition returns to Smith and Caughey’s Auckland this July, bringing together a breath-taking collection of the globe’s best press images, offering a striking perspective of the world we live in.

The 2017 Photo Contest drew entries from around the world: 5,034 photographers from 126 countries submitted 80,408 images. The jury gave prizes in eight categories to 45 photographers from 25 countries.

Winning one of the highly sought after prizes in this year’s contest is New Zealand-born photographer Robin Hammond for his striking portrait of a Sudanese woman battling mental health issues. Hammond is the recipient of numerous international awards and has dedicated his career to documenting human rights and development issues around the world through long-term photographic projects.
