We headed along to see The Other Woman – here’s Mels thoughts about it…..(can you tell she is a Game Of Thrones fan too?)
Carly (Cameron Diaz, still has it going on) thinks she’s found the perfect man. But she soon discovers her boyfriend Mark (Nickolaj Coster-Waldau aka Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones!) has a wife, Kate (Leslie Mann, comedic redhead) who he has been cheating on.
The two women form an unlikely friendship and then discover a THIRD mistress in the form of Amber (Kate Upton, impossibly good breasts). All three women then team up to plot revenge on the dastardly Lannister, whoops I mean Mark.
The Other Woman feels slightly like a female version of the Hangover, except there is no monkey.
Downing Tequila shots? Yes.
Top Notch vulgarity? (who doesn’t love a good waxing analogy?) Absolutely.
It’s probably a movie best suited for a girls night out, but having said that, many men would sit through the female skewed humour just to get to the scene where Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton runs along the beach. In slow motion. In a white bikini. Gosh, even I appreciated that, as a heterosexual female.
Don’t be too demanding of plot and you’ll enjoy this movie.
Just take the gorgeous locations and leading ladies and roll with it. It’s fun. It’s a bit of a laugh.
The Other Woman: A revenge-slapstick-comedy-chick flick.
Go with: Your girlfriends.
Surprise standout: Nicky Minaj, who has a small role as Carly’s (Diaz) secretary. The girl has got comedy acting chops.
In NZ cinemas from April 17th
Carly (Cameron Diaz) discovers her new boyfriend Mark (Game of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is a fraud – and worse – when she accidentally meets his wife, Kate (Leslie Mann). Carly suddenly finds herself comforting Kate, and their unlikely friendship solidifies when they realize that Mark is cheating on both of them with yet another “other woman,” Amber (Kate Upton). The three women join forces plotting an outrageous plan for revenge.
